Effective January 1, 2022, the No Surprise Act (Section 2799-6 of the Public Health Service Act) went into effect. Under this law, health care providers are required to provide a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected costs of non-emergency medical care and services, including psychological services, to individuals who either do not have insurance or are not using their insurance for such services, both orally and written. You will receive this document no later than one prior to receiving services and anytime upon your request.
The Good Faith Estimate details the cost of services and items that are reasonable expected for services provided by Poise Therapy. The Good Faith Estimate is based on information known at the time the estimate was created and does not include any unknown or unexpected costs that may arise throughout the treatment process; These estimates may change as the treatment progresses and are not a guarantee of treatment frequency, length or cost.
If you receive a bill that is $400 or more than the amount listed on the Good Faith Estimate that you received, you can dispute your bill by contacting the treatment provider directly and requesting that your bill be updated to reflect the amount from the Good Faith Estimate, request bill amount be negotiated, or ask if financial assistance is available. You may also dispute your bill with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) within 4 months of receiving the original bill.
